An incredible modern butter spade hallmarked for Liberty & Co, Birmingham, 1905.  The design undoubtedly by Archibald Knox with clean modernist lines and a classic triskelion blue green enamel to the finial.

This butter knife or spade is a good size and gauge measuring 16.5 cm long and weighing 54 grams.

This is the only known example of this design which will appear in Dr Stephen Martin’s forthcoming third edition of his book “Archibald Knox”.
