A very rare and wonderful pair of solid silver toast racks designed by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co.

Each rack has five divisions, each division with entwined Celtic knot design, raised on flat rectangular base with squat bun feet, stamped maker's marks, hallmarked Birmingham 1905.

13.8cm high, 8cm long, 7cm wide.

The model number is 5396.  Please see Dr Stephen Martin' s book “Archibald Knox 2001”, page 272.

What really lifts them above the norm is the fact that the Liberty mark is the rare "LC & C Ld" which, according to the text books, was only used during 1903.

I have seen the mark used on 1902 and 1905 items.
