Watercolour 131

A Spring Landscape

Date made: 1884-1933

Artist: Knox, Archibald

Description: A bright and colourful watercolour landscape by Archibald Knox (1864-1933) of a group of trees coming into spring foliage. In contrast to many of Knox's watercolours which depict grey brooding skyscapes, this is an extremely colourful scene of pale yellows and greens contrasting against the warm ochres of the land beneath. The artist is said to have painted his watercolour scenes in a few hours or less, but that he would also sit for hours waiting for the exact light conditions that he wanted to capture.

Measurements: unframed artwork: 44 cm x 57.5 cm
