Autumn Landscape
Date made: 1884-1933
Artist: Knox, Archibald
Description: A warm and golden watercolour landscape by Archibald Knox (1864-1933) depicting the patchwork of small fields along a river valley. The painting has the golden glow of an autumnal scene but the pockets of light and the dark featureless sky indicate a storm is probably fast approaching. The artist is said to have painted his watercolour scenes in a few hours or less, but that he would also sit for hours waiting for the exact light and cloud formations that he wanted to paint.
Measurements: unframed artwork: 45 cm x 59 cm
Materials: watercolour on paper
