This sandstone plaque was designed by Archibald Knox and placed on the wall between his house and studio in Sulby in 1903.

The plaque says: “Their Majesties King Edward VII  Queen Alexandra and Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria passed through this Kella Abbey Quarter 25 August 1902.”

The Isle of Man Examiner Saturday 21 February 1903 reported

“A memorial of the Royal visit has been erected by Mr A. Knox, of Sulby in the form of a block of red sandstone, which has been placed in the wall adjoining his house.”

The plaque can still be seen in its original position in Sulby,
