This is Page 52 of the bound volume of The Deer's Cry at the Manx Museum.
The caption says "Christ before me" but this uncompleted picture actually says "Christ below me." It is fascinating to see how Knox drew the outline of one of his pages with a free-flowing swirling ease. He would then have to finalise the drawing, choose the colour scheme, and execute the picture. No doubt, if this page had been completed the "below me" would have been floating above the rest of the illustration.
The words in the above paragraph are just my personal and subjective thoughts. Knox must have had so many ideas and thoughts behind this page and the other pages which, perhaps, we will never know
.
The Archibald Knox Forum would like to hear your thoughts, ideas and comments on any of the pages from The Deer's Cry.
